# Keep your wallet and account safe

Your wallet controls your on-chain assets. Your Citizen session and recovery key control access to your Market account. Protect both.

## Check the destination

Open Market through [marketdotlaunchpad.com](https://marketdotlaunchpad.com/). Compare the full domain before connecting a wallet or entering a recovery key. A familiar logo or search advertisement cannot authenticate a page.

Use the official wallet provider's installation and recovery instructions. Do not install an extension offered by someone claiming that it is required to unlock a Market prize.

## Read each wallet request

Connecting a wallet and approving a transaction have different effects. Review whether the request is a login signature, a transfer or another transaction, and check the asset, amount, authority and destination.

Decline a request that does not match the action you chose. If a transaction is pending, inspect its existing signature before trying again.

## Keep recovery material private

Never send a seed phrase, private key or Citizen recovery key through a message, social post, screenshot or support conversation. Someone with your recovery material may gain access to the relevant account or assets.

Store your Citizen recovery download safely. Regenerating its key invalidates the previous key. A Citizen recovery key does not restore a wallet, and a wallet seed phrase should never be entered into the Citizen recovery form.

## Watch for false claims

An unsolicited message promising a payout, badge, allocation or priority launch is not proof that the feature is active. The current public experience does not offer live token launches or business payouts through Market.

Someone sending you a mint named MARKET has not established that it is the official token. Confirm it through [official links and addresses](https://market-launchpad-com.gitbook.io/docs/reference/official-links).

## When something goes wrong

Stop approving unexpected requests. Check the actual transaction and account state, use your wallet provider's official help for wallet issues, and use the official Market route for product questions.

For a support request, provide a page, public transaction signature or description of the issue. Keep recovery material and authentication details out of the message.
