# Places, sources and verification

Several different kinds of evidence appear in Market. Understanding them helps you avoid attributing a story, token or fee share to the wrong person or place.

| What you see | What it establishes | What still needs checking |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| A news article | A source reported a story | Accuracy, date, current activity and exact branch |
| An exact map listing | A particular physical location is identified | Who controls or owns the business |
| An accepted catalog place | The submitted place and source passed review | Business consent, token status and financial rights |
| A business nomination | Someone proposed that business | Whether its operator participates |
| A verified representative | The person has demonstrated authority for that business | Whether ownership was separately verified |
| A finalized token launch | The recorded token creation succeeded | Its risks, current liquidity and business relationship |

## Why the exact branch matters

Businesses can share names. Chains have multiple branches. A city-level search result can point to the wrong location. Use the business name, city, street address and exact listing together.

A map search, approximate pin or familiar name is not enough for a branch-specific claim. If the location is ambiguous, resolve it before submitting a discovery or preparing a launch.

## Current activity matters

A report can describe a closed shop, relocation, historical address or planned reopening. Preserve that context. A closed or uncertain venue should not be presented as a current eligible business merely because its story is compelling.

## Respect the people in the story

Describe the relationship honestly. Identify creator-written stories as such. Use images and branding you are permitted to use, and avoid presenting a nomination as an endorsement from the business.

If a source or place is wrong, make a specific correction with supporting evidence. A useful accepted correction can count toward Citizen progress under the published rules.
